Spokesperson of Nepal Government, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, during the regular press meettoday, the July 21 informed the government's decision to lift the nationwide lockdown imposed to cut the spread of coronavirus infection in the community on March 24, and revised in various stages.The decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday and will come into effect from Tuesday midnight.�
Dr. Khatiwada clarified that the government understand the safety threat of corona virus pandemic and urges everyone to continue the measures of maintaining personal safety and avoid the actions which could spread the infections. With lifting the lockdown, the government has allowed a normal movement of private vehicles removing the odd and even system. Now, the government offices will open 10- 5 maintaining all the safety protocol, earlier government had decided to run offices in two shifts to avoid overcrowding.
It has been decided that�long-route transport services too would resume from August 17 and from the same date international and domestic flights will resume. The government has directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to make necessary arrangements for the safe operations of all flights, which were suspended with the imposition of nationwide lockdown on March 24.
The government has decided to open the hotel and restaurants from July 30, 2020 by maintaining all required safety protocols, however the restrictions of organizing meeting, conferences and gatherings will still be banned. Previously, the government had allowed only the takeaways from restaurants and only some hotels were opened to cater the in house customers and as quarantine and holding centers.
The government has said that necessary decisions will be taken in coming days after observing the impact of lifting the lockdown. However, the experts have raised concern on government decision and fear that the cases of coronavirus infection may increase in coming days.
